Dec. 19, 2024 – This insightful discussion was sponsored by the UB Newman Center Men’s Club. It was inspired by the Buffalo News “My View” column by parisioner Gregory Stamm, titled Western New York Catholics should consider the basic tenets of Christianity.
Greg Stamm, Msgr. Pat Keleher, and Fr. Dan Serbicki focused on the evolving role and challenges of the UB Newman Center and the Buffalo Diocese amidst declining priest numbers, church closures, and changing societal attitudes toward organized religion. They talked about the need to prioritize community building, inclusivity, and living the Gospel through service and outreach. Fr. Pat reflected on his history with the Newman Center, highlighting its growth and innovative approaches to campus ministry, while Fr. Dan shared his vision for the Center’s future, rooted in Jesus’ example of relational ministry.
