Major themes of the discussion were:
- We are a part of the Campus Ministry Family with St Joseph’s University Parish and the Buffalo State Newman Center and share a single Pastor Fr. Dan Serbicki
- We are and have always been a Newman Center, a special designation in Church Law
- Our Financial and Business operations have moved from under the Diocese to under St. Joseph University Parish
- All our Revenue is segregated and restricted to support our ministry. No assessment is paid to the Diocese because of our role as a special ministry
- All Donations to UB Newman only support UB Newman Ministry
The report contains a summary of the Newman Center Budget. The Community’s great support helped close our deficit with the Diocese, and we begin our new Financial operations without debt. We need to raise our weekly donations by 20% to reach the Revenue goal in our Budget and allow all our ministries to continue. If you have not given or suspended your donations due to concerns about funds being used for the Diocese bankruptcy, the new structure further ensures that is not the case. Funds are needed now and will be used to pay our monthly bills.
Read the report to learn more about these topics and the many wonderful community activities, ministries and fundraisers. Many attendees at the town meeting spoke about the need to personally invite new members to come experience the UB Newman Community.
Please consider your support of UB Newman through helping us grow, increasing your financial support, establishing regular on-line donations and considering one or more of the volunteer opportunities listed in the report.
The video from the town hall can be found on the UB Newman Facebook and YouTube pages. Questions/comments can be emailed to report@newmancenteratub.org.
May God bless you and the UB Newman Community,
