Newman Center Staff
Rev. Msgr. J. Patrick Keleher
FATHER PAT is the Director and Campus Minister for the Newman Center. He has served as a Campus Minister for over 30 years and been at UB for more than 20! One of the most familiar faces at UB, he can be found in many places on campus: anatomy lab, the Union, sports events, lectures, and the Baldy walkway! He spends lots of time talking to all kinds of members of the UB family as well as leading the Newman Center and ministering to the Newman Center Community. As he often says… “Call anytime!”
Steven grew up in a small town south of Pittsburgh where he spent most of his time playing hockey, being with his family, and fostering his love of music. Steven went to church as a family and his faith life was supported by all those around him. Steven attended Niagara University and worked as the director of the chapel student choir. While in college, Steven was involved with events through Campus Ministry where his faith grew stronger and his spiritual life was developed. Steven is always welcoming students to stop by to see all the exciting events going on at the Newman Center!

In his own words… “When I was a UB freshman, I bowled in the Newman Bowling League in the basement of Norton Union. I remember driving my blue VW beetle past the red sign on Skinnersville Road which proclaimed “Future Site Newman Chapel at SUNYAB – Diocese of Buffalo.” I thought to myself many times, no way that will ever happen. Well, here I am, having reached the dark side of the moon, a member of the Newman Center team, helping to keep our beautiful Center a special place for us to gather and celebrate life.”
